Middle School Meets Thursday in The Barn (25 W. 25th) @ 6:30-8 pm
and Sunday during service in the Cafeteria at South Eugene High School
A letter to Middle School parents from Brad Libolt (Middle School Director):
I would like to explain a little bit about where we, as a Middle School Group, is going this year.
The vision for the Middle School group this year is that they would know, love and obey God’s word.
One way we are going to try to accomplish this is through our Thursday night gatherings. We are implementing a daily reading plan that will guide readers through the entire Bible in approximately a year and a half. To supplement this reading, every Thursday night we will teach through the main concepts that everyone read the week before. There will be a Q&A section each night as well, so student’s questions can be answered.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
Paul says ALL Scripture is breathed out by God. Therefore we believe the Bible is 100% true—cover to cover. Not only is it all true but in it are the very words of God. That means that every single word in the Bible comes from God. Paul also says that God’s word is useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. Everything we want to accomplish with Middle School students—to teach them, to correct them, to help them—comes from the word of God.
The reading plan can at times be intense and there will be days where students are reading through Leviticus and feeling lost. So we want to come alongside your teens to help unpack the portions of the Word that they are struggling with. As with anything we do that is difficult, we need people in our life to hold us accountable. We, as youth leaders, will do what we can to help support your teens in this endeavor and are hoping that you will join us in this. One option would be to do the daily devotional with them and we would be more than happy to provide you with resources for that.
We are so excited for what God is going to do in the lives of the Middle Schoolers this year. We ask that you pray with us that our students would know, love, and obey God’s word, and through this that we will see changed lives.
