Bible Project

Bible Project  is our class in which individuals commit to reading through the Bible in a year. Those participating in the reading plan also meet regularly on Sundays to walk through the text they read the previous week. Explore the Bible Project pages find the reading plan, see the syllabus, and gain valuable resources that pertain to the class.

In Acts 17:11 Paul writes about a community of Jews that lived in the city of Berea. In the passage, Paul exhorts this community as being more noble than those in Thessalonica because they not only heard what Paul preached, but proceeded to go home and search the Scriptures to see if it was true. This situation was not unique to the people of Paul’s time. We live in a society today where access to preaching and teaching of the Word is readily available. This lends to both good and negative outcomes. The positive is that we can hear from some of the great Bible teachers that otherwise would be inaccessible to us. However, if our Theology is strictly based on the good teaching of people, our foundation will crumble.

The Gospel, as 1 Peter puts it, is the only foundation of our faith. Good doctrine, as Paul puts it, is the building blocks that form the house on that foundation.

This class was formed to help you with those building blocks. This year, we will be reading the Bible in 9 “blocks.” In these blocks, we aim to help you grasp the story of the God of glory. Because of this, we will not be reading in biblical order, but rather in chronological order. In addition, we will be switching between the Old and New Testaments in order to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of God’s overarching story. The goal of this is to help you understand the overall story of what God has been doing from the beginning, what he is doing now, and what he will do in the future. We want to help you understand the Bible as a whole so we can help you in the process of growing a whole heart toward the Lord, growing in both your understanding of him and your love for him. We truly believe that God has revealed his story perfectly through the Word, and we believe that he wants to inform your story with His.

There are so many opinions on who God is and what that means for our lives, and this is why it is so important for you to build a foundation that is unshaken and confirmed by God. We believe that understanding the Bible is foundational to understanding our true Foundation, Christ. Bible Project is our method of encouraging you to “hold fast to the word of life” so you may hold fast to your Foundation (Philippians 2:14-16). In this class, we will come alongside you to help guide you through the great story of the God of glory and redemption. Our hope is that by the end of the year you have a firm grasp of the Bible and how each book, chapter, and verse points to our sure and steady foundation: Christ.
