Bria Connolly writing on some of the reasons why we do worship nights.
Our first worship night is coming up this Saturday (7-8:30 Pm, be there).
Now that that shameless plug is out of the way…
We started these worship nights last year to meet a need that we saw stretching across our youth. A need and a want to enter in deeper. A need and a want to see what God might have in a place of surrender. A need and a want for a community that comes together under the same mission, in the same family.
Now, I’m not saying a night of worship fulfills those needs, or that it is the only way. What I am saying is that it is one way we get to pursue Him, it is one way we get to give of our time, we get to give it solely to Him. We come together on a Saturday night saying together that we would rather come before the Father than go anywhere else.
It is in that place that I have gotten to see the Spirit accomplish beautiful things.
We do worship nights because as people encounter what surrender looks like, what praise looks like, it bleeds into every area of their discipleship to Jesus.
1 Chronicles 16:23-31 says this:
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.24Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.25For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.27 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.28 Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of hisholiness.30 Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.31 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2
